Last week something happened. I hit a wall in my business. I was stuck.
Even though I am clear what I am working on and have something awesome things happening in my business, I just could not get myself to work.
I started to self sabotage.
I worked in front of the TV (which for me means I watched TV and did about 5 minutes of work.)
I made 2 batches of cookies and ate most of them.
I ignored the laundry and dishes and just wanted to veg out and forget the world.
Then it hit me, I was too happy, everything was going too well.
Things were going great, I am moving forward with exciting things in my business and everything was starting to work out just as I had hoped and believed it would. I had heard of the upper limit, but never noticed before when I got there. Thankfully I did this time and took control. I not only got out of my rut, but am moving past my this upper limit.
Here are the 5 things I did to get myself back on track.
- Take a day off from everything. You might not be able to take a full day off from everything, I’m a stay at home mom so that is impossible, but at minimum don’t work. Maybe you only take 10 minutes or an hour, but give yourself permission for some self care. Most moms are horrible at this, but even if it is just a bubble bath, give yourself a break. When you start working again you will be refreshed, more relaxed and maybe even have some new insight on what you were working on.
- Talk to someone. Maybe just vent to your husband, ask for tips from your mastermind, ask for guidance from your mentor, or even just grab a coffee with a friend. You may find that you just needed to get something off your chest or need someone to give you a little shove to get you moving again. If you are like me, you may have realized that you felt things were going to well and by talking it out you were reminded that you do deserve this, you are worth it, smart enough and were given a light push to get back at it.
- Believe in yourself. Do this my creating and reading daily affirmations and doing visualizations. When you’re in a funk or feeling like you’re hitting your upper limit, sometimes you just need to believe in yourself again. Reading your affirmation daily, that empowers you to go after that dream business and life, and reminds you that you can do it and deserve it, you will start to believe it. This lines up directly with visualizations. Spend a few minutes thinking about and stepping into your vision of your highest self. Imagine the life you live, what you say to yourself, how you act and what you do. Do this each day and start not only visualizing it, but actually doing the things you do.
- Create a To Do list. You may already have a to do list, but I want this one to be slightly different. I want you to keep it simple and put on only things in your business and life that you love to do. The goal is to remind yourself that you are excited and passionate about what you are working on and get back to it. You may have to do some things you don’t love, but start with those in order to get back into the groove.
- Set a deadline. If there is a specific task or project that you find yourself stalling on, but you are excited about create a deadline for it, then tell people Share it with your support group, family, mentor, and customers. You are less likely to miss a deadline that you share because we don’t want to disappoint others. It is easier to let ourselves down than others.
This weekend I put each of these tips into action and now I am back to moving and grooving in my business again and pumped to get my big project out into the world.
